Le Chevaux de Sauvat - The drawings and sculpture of Jean Louis Sauvat
1814: You come from a long line of artists, your Mother is a painter... your Uncle a sculptor ... your Grandfather a painter and an art critic, in fact he was a contemporary of Toulouse Lautrec, Georges Saurat and Antoine Bourdelle. What was it like to be surrounded by so much talent through your childhood?
JLS: Having a long line of ancestors related to art and art criticism requires an environment of accumulating books, sculptures, paintings, documents, correspondence, memories and stories passed down through the generations.. all of these nurtured my youth. This constant confrontation with art made the bed of my youth and my future.
