Improvisations - Death, life, sex, hope - Photographs by Ralph Mecke

I feel that there is no beauty without perspective. If there is a point of contrast, the beauty is more pronounced and appreciated. The rose for example, 'fresh', is very nice when printed extremely large, so one can see the points where the petal is broken and bruised. I would never retouch something like that. The girl behind the screen wearing Yoji Yamamoto resembles the monster from 'Alien', and although the veal foot may be hard to look at, there is beauty in its complexity. I don't like to shock for the sake of it. I'm much more romantic than that.
