The 49 States - Virtual walks through the 'blued' streets of Street View - Photographs by Matthew Jensen

1814: How did you settle on each location?

MJ: Each individual image is titled with the name of the state however, the exact street address and town is never divulged. To guide the selection process, I would always begin 'walking' in towns that were built on or alongside rivers or railroads. These towns generally have a downtown grid of streets that were built around industry and the transportation of goods. From there the 'walks' were guided by where the sun was in relation to the cameras and what parts of town existed in the virtual realm.
